Mary Wadsworth Darby is Founder and Managing Director of Peridot Asia Advisors. She has developed a unique market expertise through her more than 25 years living and working in China and Asia in the financial services industry and with Fortune 100 companies. She has developed strategic business plans for many companies, advised on market opening strategies and negotiated numerous significant and complex transactions with her Chinese counterparts. She was the first US businesswoman to travel to China after the historic Nixon-Kissinger opening.
Before founding Peridot, Mary worked for Morgan Stanley in Firm Management in New York City and for Morgan Stanley Investment Management in Hong Kong. She was also Executive Director of the America-China Society, an organization devoted to the promotion of relations between the US and China chaired by Henry A. Kissinger and the late Cyrus R. Vance. Mary Darby is also a Senior Research Scholar, Jerome A. Chazen Institute, Columbia Business School.
Lawrence A. Darby, III is Senior Advisor at Peridot Asia Advisors. He is a corporate securities and mergers and acquisitions lawyer with over thirty years experience in international securities and banking law practice. Until recently, he was a partner in the law firm Kaye Scholer LLP and was resident in that firm’s Hong Kong and New York City offices. Before that, he was a founding partner of the law firm Howard, Darby & Levin and he practiced with Sullivan & Cromwell. He is a member of the New York Bar and Chair of the Asia-Pacific Law Committee of the New York State Bar Association.
